Frequently asked questions
Why choose Dr. Kristin Hennessey and Connected Wellness Center?
What separates me from other midlife wellness and weight management practitioners is the depth and breadth of my experience bringing a blend of integrative and conventional approaches to caring for my patients. My extensive clinical training in primary care and women’s health make me uniquely positioned to provide the most comprehensive care available.
While larger online companies may offer seemingly similar menopause care or weight management services, the trade-off is that patients getting care from those companies are rushed through infrequent and brief visits, are unable to get in touch with their clinicians between visits, and are often given access only to generic, non-personalized care options. With me, you’ll get the highest quality care and the prompt, personalized attention you deserve—always.
How can I get in touch if I have questions or concerns about my treatment plan or medication?
For non-urgent concerns, please send a message through secure email or text. I am almost always able to reply within one business day. If you think you may be having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately.
How will I get my medications and supplements?
Some prescription medications are prescribed through my partner compounding pharmacy, and are typically delivered to your home within three business days. Other prescription medications can be sent to a local retail pharmacy if preferred. You may choose to purchase supplements over the counter from a recommended brand, or through Fullscript for a discounted rate and with home delivery. Some supplements can also be delivered directly to your home from my compounding pharmacy.
What is a compounding pharmacy?
Compounding pharmacies are facilities in which board-certified pharmacists compound, or produce, medications to meet patient-specific needs. Compounding pharmacies are subject to strict oversight by both state and federal authorities. They are regulated by State Boards of Pharmacy, and are overseen by both the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
Why does Connected Wellness Center use compounding pharmacies?
Many medications are extremely expensive, which is a big part of why insurances will not cover them. Additionally, when medications are paid for through insurance, the insurance companies dictate which medications an individual can take, for how long, and at what doses. Partnering with compounding pharmacies allows me to treat my patients based on the unique needs of each individual, and for a fraction of the cost of commercially available brand name versions.
Are compounding pharmacies safe?
As with many industries, unfortunately there are compounding pharmacies operating without proper attention to standards of safety and clinical practice recommendations. However, I am committed partnering only with a small number of compounding pharmacies that meet the absolute highest regulatory standards. In addition to meeting rigorous safety standards set by State Boards of Pharmacy, the FDA, and the DEA, my partner pharmacies further assure patient safety by adhering to the strict requirements of the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB). PCAB-accredited pharmacies meet the highest standards for medication compounding, ensuring quality control and patient safety. All supplements and medications will be provided to you through a PCAB-accredited pharmacy.
Frequently Asked Questions About Pharmaceutical Compounding
Will my visits, medications, labs, supplements, or supplies be covered by my insurance?
All Connected Wellness Center fees are self-pay only. Most patients use insurance to cover lab tests, diagnostic imaging studies, and many medications. When specialty integrative and functional labs are recommended or requested, I coordinate with my partner lab companies to arrange the best pricing for my patients.
A Superbill can be provided for every visit. This is a document detailing services provided that you can submit to your insurance company or FSA/HSA plan to request reimbursement. If you want to be reimbursed for our services by your insurance or company or health care savings plan, I advise you contact your plan prior to your visit to determine whether reimbursement is available.
